Al’s Work

In 1980 Al was commissioned to create a piece of abstract art utilizing his discus in support of the United States Olympic Team. The result was widely distributed and the original sold successfully at auction in Christies, New York.

Al’s work has been exhibited in Monaco, Athens, Lausanne and numerous U.S. cities. From hard edge to entire free form pieces there is no single theme that defines his work other than abstract.

“Athletics and art are much the same for me. Both require a good work ethic and a creative drive that I hope folks will find in my work.”

Christmas 2002, Al’s wife Cathy gave Al paints and canvas starting him on his artistic journey that motivated him the last four years of his life. Al’s ‘discus’ impact paintings evolved into colorful abstract art. In many of his paintings you will see circular forms, no doubt from his love affair with the discus.
